This is an attempt at a random story decided by 9 dice with unique symbols on each. I will list out the symbols I get, then try to create a story with them. This is more of a recording of my thoughts as personified in two different people. Let’s call them Cue and Aye (Q&A). With that being said, let’s get started. With a final lift of his hands, Aye rolls all nine dice. “Alright, here we go!” The dice hit the table, rotating sporadically as all dice should when thrown or rolled. “What are they?” asked Cue. “Well let’s see.” Replied Aye, “We’ve got a fountain, a hand, a fire, a speech bubble, an alien, a flower, a book, a tree, and the world.” “Nice. So, are they supposed to be in that order? Or can we just tell a story about these nine things?” asked Cue “I think it could be either. Here’s what we’ll do. We’ll group them together and then have those sets of items tell the story.” Said Aye. “Alright, how are we grouping them?” “Well, when I see the fire, I think of a campfire.” “Combine that with the hand, the tree, and the speech bubble and you’ve got a campground!” said Cue “Correct, also, when I see that alien. I obviously think of an alien invasion. If it was on a global scale we could have the world in this.” Said Aye “But what type of aliens are they?” Asked Cue. Aye grabs the flower die and holds it up saying, “What about flowers that are actually aliens? They come down as infectious pollen that grow into seemingly harmless flowers.” “We could go even further to say they’ve been here for thousands of year. Millions even as they could’ve been here since flowers were first made!” said Cue “Ya, and we could use the book to incorporate that they’ve been recorded in history!” Said Aye excitedly. The story was really starting to pick up. One idea constantly led to another with these two. Until they discovered a problem. “Wait wait,” said Cue, “we’ve used the speech bubble, hand, fire, and tree as a campground for our main characters.” “Yes.” Said Aye. “We’ve used the alien, flower, book, and earth as the alien invasion. Or rather the existence of aliens.” “You are correct.” “So what about the fountain?” asked Cue. Aye had not realized it, but Cue was right. They had not yet used the fountain in any part of their story. At first, Aye was confused on what to do. Then he remembered. “Hey, what about the ending?” asked Aye. “What?” said Cue confused. “The ending! How do you think this story is going to end, the aliens just taking over?” “Well…I did until you said that.” “I propose that the only way to get rid of the aliens is by means of water. Just like the witch from the Wizard of Oz, the aliens would “melt” when water was sprayed or poured on them.” Said Aye. “What? That’s stupid! Water is everywhere on earth! There’s no way that that’s how they’re killed. Besides, you water flowers don’t you? That’s how they live!” said Cue. “Oh, right. Well, we’ve got to use it somehow. How about it’s a special kind of water?” asked Aye. “A water that was only made to destroy these aliens?” Asked Cue. “Well why not? It might as well work.” Said Aye. “Alright, fine. Let’s call it…the Anti-elixir of immortality.” Said Cue. Aye rub his head, “Is that the best you could come up with?” “I don’t see you making up a name.” “…okay fine. Sure. So let’s recap. We have a group of what I assume to be teenagers going on a camping trip in a local forest. They encounter a race of aliens that have come to destroy the humans and have now found it the right time to attack. These aliens are disguised as flowers, and their only weakness is the…anti-elixir of immortality. Which is located somewhere close by. To conclude the story, the teenagers find this elixir by random chance and kill off the few aliens that are around. They tell people about it just in time and all aliens, and flowers, are destroyed. They all live happy ever after.” Said Aye. “That sounds about right.” Said Cue. “Okay, now we just have to write this story.” Said Aye. And that’s exactly what they, or I, will do.
