I was visiting my parents house. They wanted me to come over that weekend so they could talk to me again since I’ve been away at college. While there, I decided to search in the attic for some interesting things to sell online. It was dusty, so dusty that I sneezed. When I did sneezed off the dust of a book. It was labeled “Stories of a grandfather.” Since I had nothing better to do, I opened it up and started reading out loud to myself.

It had no previous thought I threw it together with a rush But also without a rush School of the elimination. The school my parents enrolled me in. S.O.T.E. for short.
I was a new student. Called fresh meat by the upperclassmen. I would have preferred small fish in a big ocean. I was one in almost 66,000. 65,536 to be exact. You know that scene in a movie where the main character (usually a male) gets an idea, and then the side character (usually female) thinks it’s a terrible idea, but then they go out and do it and everything turns out fine? Those movies are, for a lack of a better term, cliché. In other words, you always know what’s going to happen. So then, if so many movies do this, being cliché, why do we still watch them? It’s because of our desire to experience. Even though we see horrible things happen in movies to characters, you still think to yourself “Gosh I wish that would happen to me. It would be so much more interesting then whatever I’m doing tomorrow.” We always look for that adventure, that experience. Which is why so much of the news is bad, sure it’s terrible, but it’s more interesting than if a bunch of great things happened. For example, which would keep your interest longer: a plane crash with few survivors, or a new healthcare center opening? Admit it, we are a society that strives to be interesting, different, unique. We always think that there needs to be a balance to this world. Although most people won’t admit it, everyone knows that a world without evil is not a world worth living in. On the flip side though, a world without good is not worth living in either. This is why every good story always a good force and a bad force (no pun intended).
